If you're age 11-19 and either:

  • An actor
  • A changemaker
  • A community organizer
  • A film maker or editor
  • A leader
  • A script/dialogue writer
  • A social media content creator
  • Someone who thinks anti-bullying programs for kids & teens should be created with input from kids & teens (and maybe even run by them!)
  • Someone who wants to make a difference

We're looking for you!

Theatre of Peace (TOP) is the Youth Advisory Board of 501(c)(3) nonprofit Act Like You Matter. We ...

  • Keep our scripts and content current to ensure it really speaks to kids & teens today;
  • Create and run our solution-driven, anti-bullying programs at K-12 schools on campus (Southern California) and live streamed (Everywhere); and
  • Create online resources (videos & social media posts) to help kids and teens know they’re not alone in what they’re experiencing.

We’re basically a think tank on all topics related to the challenges kids & teens face with figuring out and being true to who you are in a world where peers are pressuring you to conform or to change so that you "fit in".

We’re looking for kids & teens who want to make a difference in the lives of their peers, support those who feel alone or ostracized, and change their world for the better. Our Youth Advisory Board meets simultaneously on Zoom and in person in San Diego. Nearly all tasks and volunteer opportunities can be done remotely.

We're a PVSA Certifying Organization. The time you invest volunteering with us counts towards earning a PVSA Award.

We can't wait to hear from you!

About ACT LIKE YOU MATTER

Location:

17051 NEW ROCHELLE WAY, SAN DIEGO, CA 92127, US

Mission Statement

To empower young people to find their voice, be part of the solution, and change the way their generation treats each other, so that schools and communities are places of acceptance and tolerance, where empathy and kindness are second nature and each child can rise to their full potential, without fear of being bullied.

Description

Programs & Services:

1. Student led, age appropriate, anti-bullying empowerment assemblies for K-12th (a) on campus at schools in San Diego County and (b) via live-stream everywhere else;
2. Videos and scripts of our programs, available to rent and license on our website;
3. Free Online Resources: Resource videos and positive, empowering social media presence to (a) provide tools & strategies to kids and teens no matter where they live and (b) make sure no one feel alone in what they’re experiencing;
4. Support community on Discord where ages 11-19 can share their experiences and learn from each other about all topics related to being true to yourself and overcoming challenges related to that;
5. Bullying Resilience Coaching services for kids, teens, and parents, including peer support and mentoring;
6. Bullying Prevention Consulting services for schools and businesses.

All of our content, programs, and services are solution focused: providing a wide variety of tools and strategies that young people can use right away to find their voice, overcome bullying, build their resilience, and be part of the solution.

Since 2015, we've worked with 11,500+ students and 700+ teachers through our on-campus programs in Southern California, helping to reduce bullying incidents, foster empathy, and create more inclusive school environments.

We envision a world where every child feels safe, valued, heard, and respected. Whether you volunteer, donate, or spread the word, your support moves us closer to that world.
