Seeking Structural Engineer/Roofing Engineer for Revit Eco-Dome-Home Rooftop Patio Designs

One Community is a nonprofit all-volunteer sustainability think tank. Our volunteer team fluctuates between 150-200 team members and has included over 1300 volunteers representing more than 60 different countries. We're seeking a structural engineer to work using Revit and with our architect to complete a rooftop patio design that will be a variation of the 3-dome home designs shown here: https://www.onecommunityglobal.org/earthbag-village/

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a Mastor's degree in Structural Engineering
  • Working knowledge of structural code requirements to research and check compliance with California Building Standard codes and International Building Codes
  • Experience and knowledge of wood construction
  • Has experience and access to Revit
  • Ability to determine live and dead loads
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Minimum of 10 weekly volunteer hours (work from home)
  • Minimum 3-month commitment
  • Must be self-motivated and comfortable working in a virtual environment using GoogleDocs and DropBox for collaboration

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Structural Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design and report completion for One Community’s 4-earth-dome DIY sustainable housing project. You will work collaboratively with the lead architect to:

  1. Research relevant code and review the structural engineering details
  2. Complete the rooftop patio design
  3. Complete the rooftop patio report


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Revit Expertise: Utilize Revit to create, modify, and maintain the structural drawings
  • Structural Design: Develop structural rooftop patio designs and details
  • Project Collaboration: Collaborate with the lead architect to integrate the structural designs seamlessly into overall project plans.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and verify drawings and designs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Project Documentation: Prepare detailed design documentation, report, and calculations, as required by project specifications.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all designs and drawings comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations through effective research.
