Join our volunteer team! An integral piece of our interdisciplinary team, volunteers provide patient care and support services according to his/her experience and training and in compliance with organization policies. Volunteer areas may include companionship, respite, homemaking duties, running errands, veteran-to-veteran programming, music, community outreach, etc.
We provide our patients with in-home care so that they can remain wherever they are most comfortable (nursing home, assisted living, memory care, etc.) so we are looking for volunteers in the communities that we serve. Our current service area includes Linn County. Share your talents with our patients! Our volunteers report consistently that they find their experiences very gratifying.
Our Volunteer Coordinator and skilled staff members will orient volunteers to work confidently with our patients ensuring a positive volunteer environment. Contact us to see how you can put your skills to use, further enriching the lives of our patients! You may share your gifts in a very flexible timeframe but are typically requested by the patient to occur once each week for at least one hour. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss this unique opportunity.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide the highest quality of care and customer service to our patients, their families, and our referring sources. We believe that exceptional clinical care must include clear communication, a commitment to exceeding customer expectations, and a dedication to deliver services with passion and integrity. We are committed to maintaining a team comprised of the most talented and compassionate professionals in the industry. As our greatest asset, our team supports each other, takes complete ownership of their duties, and continually seeks to enhance their education and personal character. Suncrest will reach its goals under the direction of leaders who seek to serve, an office staff that supports, and a philosophy that growth is only achieved through the greatest efforts of the entire team.
Description
Advancement from this life to beyond should be both dignified and comfortable, allowing patients to spend precious time with loved ones in the comfort of their own place of residence. Hospice care aims to treat the symptoms of the disease process, rather than focusing on halting, delaying or curing the illness.
Suncrest Hospice brings this treatment to patients and their families through qualified and compassionate physicians, nurses, aides, social workers, and spiritual advisors. Our team is committed passionately to making patients comfortable, while at the same time providing necessary support to family members.
Another essential member of the team is the volunteer. A hospice volunteer recognizes that dying is not just a medical "event," but also a personal and perhaps, spiritual journey. Medicare, the most common funder of hospice care, requires that 5% of all care hours be provided by volunteers in order to fulfill the philosophy of a multi-disciplinary team approach.
Volunteers report consistently that they find the experience very gratifying. Many were led into this volunteer experience following the death of a loved one in their own lives. Rather than a focus on death, hospice is an opportunity to assist someone in creating the most fulfillment and comfort as possible at this time of life.
Suncrest Hospice recognizes that everyone has unique abilities and talents. As a volunteer, you can support a person's dignified end of life in a number of ways.
