ORGANIZATION: MARTIN LUTHER KING JR CENTER FOR NON VIOLENT SOCIAL CHANGE INC

As a Production Support Volunteer, you will be an essential part of the production team responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of various tasks and operations during an event or production. Your role will involve providing support in a hands-on capacity , assisting with setup, maintenance, and coordination of equipment, props, and other production-related elements. Your contributions will help create a memorable experience for participants and audience members.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the stage management team in coordinating backstage activities during rehearsals and performances. This may involve assisting with scene changes, prop management, and ensuring smooth transitions between acts.

  • Assist in crowd control and audience management, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. This may involve guiding attendees, checking tickets, and providing directions when necessary.

  • Maintain effective communication with the production team, following instructions and providing updates on tasks and progress. Collaborate with fellow volunteers and staff members to ensure a cohesive and well-coordinated production.

  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization in back-of-house areas, including storage rooms, offices, and restrooms. Support waste management efforts by disposing of trash and recyclables appropriately.

  • Collaborate with other volunteers and staff members to ensure effective communication, cooperation, and coordination. Offer assistance in areas where help is needed, contributing to an overall positive and productive environment.

  • Be willing to take on various tasks as required , adapting to changing priorities and situations. This may involve assisting with additional roles or responsibilities as needed.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, eagerness to contribute, and commitment to fulfilling responsibilities consistently and punctually.

  • Be able to perform physical tasks that may involve lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods. The ability to handle moderate physical exertion is important in this role.

  • Display a keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy in tasks such as inventory management, record-keeping, and setup arrangements.

  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with other volunteers and staff members professionally and courteously.

  • Work well within a team environment, demonstrating a cooperative and helpful attitude. Show willingness to collaborate and support others as needed.

  • Exhibit reliability and responsibility in fulfilling commitments and attending scheduled shifts. Notify the appropriate person in advance if unable to fulfill duties as assigned.

Volunteer Attire: Professional all black or black pants and white shirt/ top.

Established in 1968 by Mrs. Coretta Scott King, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change ("The King Center") has been a global destination, resource center and community institution for over a quarter century.The King Center is a 501(c)3. Nearly a million people each year make pilgrimage to the National Historic Site to learn, be inspired and pay their respects to Dr. King’s legacy.

The King Center is repositioning to meet the challenges and opportunities of today.
