Castolon Visitor Center Host
ORGANIZATION: National Park Service
Please visit the new page to apply.
Visitor Center Hosts help park rangers greet and orient visitors to Big Bend National Park and Rio Grande Wild & Scenic River. Hosts make sure visitors have a safe, enjoyable visit and know park rules and regulations. Fee collection, permit writing and selling items for the BBNHA bookstore are part of this job. Passing a background check is required. Volunteers must be able to commit to the full 3 months.
Hosts work 32 hours per week: three days per week in one of five visitor centers plus one day of project or learning time. Hosts must furnish their own trailer or mobile home. Electrical, water and sewer hookups are provided free of charge and propane is reimbursed. Laundry facilities are available. Volunteer housing is 1 mile from the visitor center.
Castolon is located on the west side of Big Bend along the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. It's next to the Rio Grande River and 8 miles from the beautiful Santa Elena Canyon.
