Making a Difference with 1-2 Hours Each Week

ORGANIZATION: Choice Health at Home

Volunteering for an hour or two a week may not seem like much but to someone who is caregiving and with a patient it makes a difference.

A chance to run and get a few groceries, do banking, pick up prescriptions, and pick-up supplies lifts a load of anxiety off the person who is care giving and problem solving much of the time.

Our volunteers are first trained with a simple and basic orientation, Then once they get past the first steps of our volunteering protocol they volunteer with a family for an hour or two each week. Scheduling is based on what the volunteer is able to do.

Oftentimes it is being a compassionate presence for our patients.

We can also do more with our lives for others and make a difference.

Mission Statement

Description

Hospice is a patient-centered approach to improve the quality of life and provide compassionate support for patients and families. Hospice care is focused on maintaining dignity and providing comfort, including pain and symptom management at the end of life when a cure is no longer possible. Also called palliative care, hospice involves the aggressive treatment of physical and emotional pain and symptoms. Hospice affirms life, improves comfort, and does not hasten or postpone death.
