Special. Valued. Difference-Maker. Appreciated. Essential.
These are just some of the words that I use to describe our Assisteo Hospice Volunteer Team. My name is Brian Hetzer, and I am the Volunteer Coordinator for Assisteo Hospice, serving the greater Phoenix area/Maricopa County. Assisteo Hospice is a military Veteran centric hospice. Over half of our patients served in the military. It’s a privilege and honor to provide exceptional clinical care, encouragement, and support to these men and women.
Assisteo’s Volunteer Program is an essential part of that care. Our Volunteer Program includes folks of all ages who provide weekly visits to patients, some who play music, provide support by bringing animals (dogs, cats, etc.), engage in art with patients, and some volunteers that make crafts for patients. Additionally, we have Volunteers that provide administrative support to our Volunteer Program, office staff and our overall hospice program. Truly, it’s an all-hands on deck approach to quality care.
As Assisteo Hospice and our Volunteer Program continue to grow, so has our need for additional administrative support for our Volunteer Program. The specific area that I am looking for admin support is coordinating our therapies program. The position title is Therapies Coodinator. Our Therapies Program includes volunteer musicians, pet therapy teams, and art sessions, all for hospice patients, assisted living and skilled nursing pateints/residents in homes and facilities across the Valley.
The work can be done remotely, and the position works directly with me, and includes:
- helping to find places for the therapies
- working with the volunteers to assign them
- maintaining a therapies calendar
On average, the time commitment is about 2 hours per week.
Our main administrative office is located at 2929 N. 44th St., Suite 110, Phoenix, AZ 85018
General Preferred Abilities:
· Good communicator on the phone
· Organized & Creative
· Experience in basic Word, Excel, etc.
There is a required onboarding process:
*volunteer application
*background check
*brief hospice orientation (about an hour)
I consider this role a team effort, as we work together to accomplish what’s needed. Additionally, if you are looking for potential bigger and better things in the future, I love writing stellar Letters of Recommendation for my team members. The great work they do deserves recognition and opportunities.
If the above role is of interest to you, please reach out. Let’s chat.
