About Empowered Futures
Join Empowered Futures as a Legal Lead and be part of our futuristic and innovative Non-Profit organization dedicated to tackling the increasing rate of depression in youth (ages 18 to 28). Through self-empowerment, business mentorship, and support, we strive to build confident, emotionally intelligent, and resourceful adults.
At Empowered Futures, we believe in the principles of integrity, goal setting, and responsibility, using them to inspire hope. Despite the complexities associated with this issue, we firmly believe that collective efforts can prevent suicide by instilling healing, raising awareness, and promoting mental health and well-being.
This volunteer position offers a unique opportunity to utilize your skills and contribute to making a significant impact on individuals' lives.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure secure compliance with all statutory, legal, and policy requirements arising from the organization’s activities.
- Ensure senior board members are appraised of legal issues, including new legislation.
- Work closely with members of the Board and subordinates to help the organization and stakeholders focus on minimizing and managing strategic and operational risks.
- Structure, draft, negotiate, and review complex agreements, identifying legal and business risks as well as recommending solutions.
Qualifications:
- A Law degree (LLB or JD) along with a valid license to practice law.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and legal frameworks such as human rights, environmental law, social justice, etc.
- Experience in providing legal advice, drafting legal documents such as contracts, policies, agreements.
- Ability to lead and manage a legal team with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
