As the PurpleStride Chair, you are the driving force behind turning the PurpleStride vision into reality. You oversee the success of your community’s event, including revenue, participant, and team targets. You will also play a critical role in implementing the PurpleStride fundraising components outlined in the Affiliate Action Plan. This does not mean you carry the event alone! Your focus is to lead with mission and impact to recruit your committee positions and then lead and guide those volunteers to accomplish the tasks at hand. It’s easy to take on all the responsibility and "do things yourself" in this role. But it’s vital that you delegate, mange, and motivate your team so you are not overwhelmed and can focus on the big picture, ensuring all areas are prioritized and executed effectively. Through your work, you will drive the mission forward, create community, find ways for many people to get involved with PanCAN, and help us reach new communities that need our services.

ROLE SPECIFIC GOALS 1. Recruit, train, and motivate all PurpleStride Committee positions 2. Exceed specific event revenue and participant goals 3. Provide an excellent experience for all PurpleStride participants Work with Staff Partner to confirm specific goals for your PurpleStride

Mission Statement

Our mission is to take bold action to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer by advancing scientific research, building community, sharing knowledge and advocating for patients.

Description

PanCAN was the first organization dedicated to fighting pancreatic cancer in a comprehensive way, and for more than two decades, we’ve grown a nationwide movement tackling the disease from all angles.

  • Research: We fund transformative research - everything from early detection to innovative new treatment approaches.
  • Patient Services: We provide information about treatment options, diet and nutrition, support resources and more, and we can answer all your questions along the way.
  • Advocacy: We work with thousands of grassroots advocates to urge Congress to increase federal research funding for pancreatic cancer, and we get results.
  • Community: Be part of our movement! You can volunteer locally, participate in a PurpleStride community event or host your own fundraiser.
