ORGANIZATION: Multnomah County Library

Do you have skills in writing resumes or advising job seekers with their job search? Have you worked in human resources or other settings that include resumes and hiring? We are looking for volunteers to provide resume coaching and feedback for job seekers. Volunteers will provide resume help during 30 minute sessions in person at a library branch. BIPOC community members and those fluent in languages other than English are encouraged to apply.

Location: Midland Library, 805 SE 122nd Ave, Portland, OR 97233

Time commitment: Two hours sessions either weekly or twice a month for a minimum of six months; the day and time of your 2-hour shift will be determined with your schedule and mutually convenient to the library's needs. You will assist up to 4 patrons per week during your 2-hour shift. Shifts are expected to start on December 1 or later.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Have a professional background or skills around resume writing, HR, job searching

  • Be able to provide professional, friendly, customer service oriented help to patrons

  • Use discretion and uphold patron confidentiality and privacy

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Willing to have a criminal records check, if you have not already had one through the library. Results of the records check will be reviewed on an individualized basis. A conviction is not an automatic bar to volunteering.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Welcome and interact with library patrons

  • Provide feedback on resume and job search related questions

  • Coordinate with library location staff to provide services

Training and Orientation

  • Online training and volunteers will meet with library staff for orientation
