Support conservation efforts in the Sonoma Mountains by joining our board!
SONOMA MOUNTAIN PRESERVATION is looking for someone with an accounting background, or someone who is good with numbers and recordkeeping, to join our Board of Directors as Treasurer.
Time commitment = 8-10 hours/month.
Hybrid in-person/Zoom meetings are held six times a year (even months; prefer at least half in-person). Candidates should align with our nonprofit organization's mission and vision.
Our mission is to preserve Sonoma Mountain's scenic, agricultural, and natural resources by cultivating a sense of place, engaging people with the landscape, and inspiring them to become mountain stewards. We:
Expand recreational opportunities on the mountain
Provide a forum for constructive discussion of issues relating to the mountain
Represent the interests of the mountain before public and private agencies and organizations
Support and encourage the development of multi-use trails for low-impact access to the mountain
Stimulate interest among county residents in supporting all these goals.

Applicants should reside in Sonoma or northern Marin County. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, preparing annual sales tax returns, assisting outside CPA in federal tax prep, complying with state reporting requirements, managing insurance coverage, managing our Money Market account(s), preparing an annual budget, and monthly bank reconciliations. Ability to work with Quickbooks preferred.
Our nonprofit is run by an all-volunteer board and one communications specialist.
