Job Title: Volunteer Web Developer for WooCommerce Optimization and API Integration

Location: Remote

Position Type: Volunteer, Part-Time (Flexible Hours)

About Us:

We are a mission-driven nonprofit organization that supports small-scale farmers through our WooCommerce store. Our store features around 5,000 products, including branded merchandise, which helps fund our sustainable agriculture initiatives. We are seeking a skilled volunteer web developer to optimize our online store’s performance and integrate branded product APIs, ensuring the website remains fast, efficient, and SEO-friendly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and optimize the WooCommerce store with ~5,000 products for speed, ensuring it does not slow down the site or negatively impact Google rankings.

  • Implement performance enhancements, including database optimization, caching, and image compression.

  • Ensure the smooth integration of third-party platforms like Printify and other branded product APIs, allowing automated product management and order fulfillment.

  • Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot issues related to store performance, API integration, and user experience.

  • Monitor and improve SEO, ensuring the store is optimized for search engines.

  • Utilize optimization tools (e.g., Google PageSpeed Insights, GTMetrix) to continuously monitor site speed and performance.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with WooCommerce and WordPress.

  • Proficiency in web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP) and database management.

  • Strong understanding of speed optimization techniques, including caching, database queries, and image optimization.

  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and how they apply to eCommerce sites.

  • Experience with API integrations, particularly Printify or other branded product APIs.

  • Familiarity with performance monitoring tools (Google PageSpeed, GTMetrix, etc.).

  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot technical issues.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience handling large WooCommerce product inventories.

  • Prior experience integrating Printify or similar services into WooCommerce.

  • Knowledge of server-side optimization techniques and CDN use.

  • Understanding of UX/UI principles and their impact on eCommerce performance.

Why Volunteer with Us:

By joining our team, you’ll play a critical role in helping our nonprofit enhance its digital presence. Your contributions will ensure that our store runs smoothly, ranks highly on search engines, and continues to generate revenue to support our sustainable agriculture programs.

How to Apply:

Please submit your resume and examples of your relevant work to sarah.deamer@deltarisingfoundation.org. We’re excited to welcome you to our team!

Duration: Flexible, with a minimum commitment of 2-3 months preferred.
