About PARTNERSHIP FOR A BETTER SAN DIEGO
Location:
3737 CAMINO DEL RIO S, STE 403, SAN DIEGO, CA 92108, US
Mission Statement
1) Combat food insecurity in San Diego by providing meals, pantry staples and household items to our community. 2) Help foster economic stability for individuals, the community and the local hospitality sector, and build the labor movement in San Diego County. We will do this by providing training for underserved populations, which will improve access to good union jobs within the hospitality industry.
Description
Originally founded in 2012 to help union workers in times of economic need, Partnership for a Better San Diego expanded its operations to the community at large in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Volunteers & staff were deployed by the Labor Council and local unions to establish a drive-up food pantry in City Heights & Imperial Valley, as well as a nationally recognized weekly drive-through food distribution serving thousands of families in need.
Partnership for a Better San Diego continues to operate a drive-up food pantry out of our current office location. The pantry serves 10,000 - 16,000 individuals and households per year.
