BGCM is actively seeking remote SAT Math tutors for the fall and spring seasons to help high school students excel on their SAT math sections. This program is designed to help bridge gaps in mathematical knowledge, reinforce test-taking strategies, and boost confidence in students' mathematical abilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver virtual instruction focused on SAT math topics, including but not limited to Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry.
  • Utilize virtual learning platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet effectively to conduct tutoring sessions.
  • Engage with students in a professional manner to determine their specific academic needs and tailor instruction to meet these needs.
  • Provide supportive and positive responses to student inquiries, offering clear and comprehensive explanations of complex mathematical concepts.
  • Assist students in solving typical SAT problem types, using practice questions to enhance understanding and application.
  • Prepare and share concise progress reports with both students and parents to keep them informed of advancements and areas needing improvement.
  • Fulfill other related duties as necessary to support student success on the SAT.

Volunteer Details:

  • Dates: Fall to Winter and Winter to Spring
  • Schedule: Flexible, accommodating both the tutor's and the students' availability. Emphasis on weekend and evening availability to match high school students' schedules.
  • Location: Remote; eligible for applicants from any US state.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience in teaching or tutoring high school mathematics or preparing students for standardized tests such as the SAT is preferred or a near perfect score on the SAT.
  • Minimum education requirement is current enrollment in or completion of a bachelor's degree program; high-performing high school students who have excelled in their SAT math section will also be considered.
  • Strong command of virtual teaching tools and platforms.
  • Excellent multitasking skills to manage different students and learning sessions effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
  • Consistent and reliable availability throughout the tutoring period, especially during peak testing months.

Located in the heart of Jackson, NJ, we specialize in improving the self esteem of youth and families in surrounding suburban as well as underrepresented and underprivileged communities, while promoting integrity and stewardship, and offering, to youth in our surrounding states from Maine to North Carolina, an innovative opportunity to train, excel, and compete academically, artistically, and athletically.
