About Nurture Hope
Our mission is to nurture and inspire dignity, safety, and hope, in the lives of our unhoused neighbors.
Nurture Hope serves Thurston County’s unhoused neighbors with dignity through our Shower Power Plus (SPP) and Build A Bus Home (BABH) Program. SPP serves our local houseless community with mobile showers and hygiene supplies to improve health and safety. BABH aims to find creative ways to improve affordable housing and build community around this important issue. We strive to build relationships and be a place where people can become connected and involved.
Our dedicated team of volunteers offer a piece of normalcy and a small step toward the goal of independent and self-sufficient living. Together, we strive to meet the most basic human needs with radical hospitality!
Purpose of Position
Serve the local houseless community as a Volunteer Social Media Coordinator for Nurture Hope. Work closely with the Executive Director (ED) and the management team to manage the coordination recruitment, training, tracking and support of our volunteers. This is a volunteer position where hours and schedule are agreed upon by us as a team.
Location: The volunteer will be able to work from their home. The volunteer should have reliable access to a computer and the Internet on a daily basis. The volunteer should be able to meet by phone or zoom with members of Nurture Hope. Ability to come on site and take pictures on Thursday is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Update Social Media pages (FB, IN, Linkedin, X) on a regular schedule.
Help develop our social media strategy, our implementation plan and our posting calendar.
Respond to posts or comments to bring value to audience’s interactions
Post updates, news and announcements in a timely manner using appropriate content.
Perform research to find articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to our community and posts it to our SM in a manner that invites conversation and interaction.
Update accounts with current and relevant photos, video, or other content from Nurture Hope
activities and events.
Regularly observes the online activity of model organizations researches and reports on "social media best practices".
Use analytics to assess trends and activity on our social media account
Use various techniques to recruit volunteers, such as email marketing, posting flyers, using social media and more.
Requirements: This position requires someone motivated and community-oriented, equipped with a positive attitude, readiness to be a team player, high attention to detail and excellent social and communications skills.
Must be proficient in Social Media
High School diploma or GED (college credits or military training a plus)
Preferred experience of 1-2 years with non-profit volunteer management
Excellent social and communication skills
Knowledge of online communications and database systems

Nurture Hope’s programs provide affordable housing options through BABH, while SPP serves unhoused guests who do not have regular access to running water with mobile showers. Our dedicated team of volunteers offer a piece of normalcy and a small step toward the goal of independent and self-sufficient living. Together, we strive to meet the most basic human needs with radical hospitality!
Shower Power Plus also works closely with Community Partners creating an inviting atmosphere for guests. This "Village of Care" approach has attracted partners who provide, food, clothing, medical, employment information, and a range of related supplies and services.
As we grow and evolve our operations, it is crucial that we continue to promote a favorable and lasting impression in the minds of everyone with whom we interact, including guests, donors, media, volunteers, and the general community.
