POSITION SUMMARY:
Meal Delivery volunteers deliver pre-packaged and nutritious meals to individuals, mostly seniors, and/or those with physical disabilities/special needs, who otherwise are unable to access or prepare nutritional meals. This program serves to mitigate food insecurity and social isolation within the East-downtown Toronto community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Reliable and punctual; sensitive to the needs of others.
Able to physically carry meal delivery bags.
Good comprehension of English to receive instructions; interact with clients; and communicate with other volunteers and staff.
Able to accept feedback and work well as part of a team.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Deliver meals to clients at designated stops on route sheet
Drivers: take teams to client homes, and act as team lead, to report any relevant information to Program Supervisor.
Runners: deliver meal packages to clients
Observe clients' appearances and health when delivering meals
Report problems or concerns to the Meals on Wheels Supervisor immediately upon completion of route
Adhere to Meals on Wheels policies and procedures

Dixon Hall began as a soup kitchen in 1929, and since then has been steadily increasing and strengthening a diverse range of integrated services for residents of Downtown East Toronto. Dixon Hall is a multi-service agency, and serves more than 10,000 people annually, impacting the lives of the most vulnerable and the most at-risk members of our community. We work with at-risk youth, seniors, adults with physical and health disabilities, people who need housing, individuals searching for employment, those with mental health issues, and newly immigrated individuals and their families.

- Meals on Wheels is a paid-for-service, which offers nutritional and affordable meals to clients. Clients often access the service at a subsidized rate. A donation will allow us to offer subsidies.
