Mission Statement
The mission of the Puget Sound Community School is to honor the uniqueness of students by trusting their natural abilities, respecting them as individuals, and providing them educational opportunities in which equal status is given to all pursuits. We invite the participation of all people - regardless of race, gender, ability, or sexual orientation. PSCS is dedicated to being a leading example of community-involved education.
Description
PSCS is a small, independent, alternative school for middle and high school aged youth, founded in 1994. The founding principle of the school is that learning is best fostered by self-motivation, self-regulation, and self-reflection. Curriculum is determined by the interests of the students, with equal status given to all pursuits. We are also a "school without walls" and make use of resources in the community by conducting activities in public spaces (libraries, parks), places of business, and homes.
