Love celebrating the holidays but worried that certain events will be overwhelming? Join us for our third annual Sensory Friendly Holiday Tree Lighting for children and adults with Autism or other developmental disorders! Visit with Santa and enjoy the different craft and activity stations. We’ll then bundle up to count down the tree lighting outside the Library at 7:00pm! The Autism Society Southeastern Wisconsin, the Mukwonago Community Library, and the Mukwonago Chamber of Commerce are partnering once again to provide a FREE holiday party and tree lighting for children and adults with autism and other developmental disorders who would benefit from a sensory friendly holiday event. There will be a sensory friendly Santa, reduced crowd sizes, crafts and games, a sensory quiet area, and a holiday movie. This event mirrors Mukwonago’s Tree Lighting event on December 4th which kicks off Mukwonago’s Midnight Magic festivities and draws large crowds which can be over-stimulating. Volunteers are needed to work in pairs at the different stations: two craft stations, the Santa station, game room, movie room, sensory area, two floaters, and a photographer. Volunteers are encouraged to wear holiday wear as well as weather appropriate attire (winter clothing) for the actual tree lighting portion of the event which will take place outside at the program's conclusion.
