Founded in 2018 with an initial donation of $1,000, Weekend-Adventures is dedicated to broadening the horizons of children and youth beyond their immediate communities. Our mission is to inspire and empower young people by providing transformative experiences in the arts, sciences, and outdoor exploration.
Since our inception, we have impacted numerous families and successfully raised $450,000 in support of our programs. As we enter a new phase of growth, we are transitioning from a fiscally sponsored initiative to establishing ourselves as an independent organization. This strategic shift will enable us to expand our services, diversify our revenue streams, and build a sustainable infrastructure to further our mission.
To support this exciting transition, we are seeking a minimum of eight dedicated board members with at least three years of experience in areas such as fundraising and finance, communications, leadership development, human resources, and organizational strategy. As a board member, you will collaborate closely with the founding director to ensure the continued success and growth of Weekend-Adventures.
Our goal is to submit our charitable organization application by January 2025. We are looking for individuals who are not only passionate about our mission but are also comfortable working in a dynamic, start-up environment.
If you are interested in joining us on this journey, please submit a brief letter of interest along with your resume to Contact@weekend-adventures.org.

Mission Statement

Description
Weekend-Adventures is a fiscally sponsor program of the Social Good Fund since 2018. We serve youth and children in grades 3rd through 12th. Our program is unique as we are not stationary. Our program is designed to take youth out of the neighborhood and into places and spaces that have historically been unavailable to them.
We lead 4 ten-week programs for up to 30 youth per year. We explore the arts, sciences and the outdoors. We offer our program free of charge to families as we understand the complexities of living in poverty. More than 90% of our family's receive some form of government assistance and or free or reduce cost lunch at school.
Our families are loving people, filled with all the hopes and dreams for their children as every parent is. It is a pleasure working with and serving them.
