Position Overview:

The SafeWater Initiative is seeking an experienced and dynamic Program Director to lead and manage the organization’s anti-drowning and water safety programs. The Program Director will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of all water safety programs, ensuring that they are effective, impactful, and aligned with the organization’s mission to prevent drowning and promote safe water practices. This role will involve close collaboration with community partners, schools, local governments, and volunteers to expand the reach and success of SafeWater Initiative’s programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Program Strategy and Development:

    • Design, develop, and refine water safety and anti-drowning programs to meet community needs and organizational goals.
    • Create a strategic plan to expand existing programs and implement new initiatives based on current trends and research in water safety.
    • Establish and oversee measurable program objectives, timelines, and action plans.
  2. Program Implementation and Management:

    • Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of water safety programs, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
    • Coordinate and manage program staff, instructors, and volunteers, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
    • Ensure that programs are delivered within budget, meeting financial targets and maintaining sustainability.
  3. Community and Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Cultivate strong relationships with local schools, community organizations, and government agencies to promote program participation.
    • Represent SafeWater Initiative at community events, meetings, and conferences to advocate for water safety and build partnerships.
    • Serve as the primary contact for program-related inquiries and community outreach efforts.
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • Develop and implement evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness and impact of programs.
    • Track program metrics, generate detailed reports, and present findings to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
    • Use data-driven insights to improve program design and adapt strategies to emerging needs.
  5. Training and Curriculum Development:

    • Oversee the creation and updating of program curricula, including training materials for instructors, volunteers, and participants.
    • Facilitate training sessions for new and existing staff and volunteers to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.
    • Stay informed about the latest research and methodologies in water safety education to keep programs relevant and effective.
  6. Fundraising and Grant Management:

    • Collaborate with the development team to identify funding opportunities and assist with grant writing and reporting.
    • Manage program-specific budgets and contribute to financial planning to ensure the sustainability of water safety initiatives.
  7. Marketing and Communications:

    • Work closely with the marketing team to create promotional content for programs, ensuring consistent messaging and branding.
    • Develop community outreach strategies, including social media campaigns, newsletters, and public service announcements, to raise awareness of water safety.
