Position Overview

Volunteer Photographers donate their time and talents to capture scenic and recreational shots of our three beautiful park units. Volunteer Photographers document wildlife, natural wonders, volunteer activities, educational events, and other specialized requests. Photos may be used by The National Parks of St. Croix for a wide variety of purposes, including but not limited to social/news media and training. The main goal is capturing the cultural, historic and natural resources of the island, and encouraging volunteer stewardship by showcasing the island's natural beauty.


IMPORTANT: Before submitting an application, please recognize this volunteer position is on the island of St. Croix. Lodging and transportation are NOT provided by the National Parks of St. Croix.


Duties

  • Photograph the park’s natural, cultural, and recreational resources including but not limited to trails, wildflowers, wildlife, etc.
  • Take high quality photos documenting events, education activities, resource management activities (including staff and volunteers) as well as cultural events and island flora and fauna. These images may be used in social media, websites, flyers and more with accreditations to the photographer.
  • Know the interpretive programs and offerings for the day and relay that information to the guests.

Optional ( These will require additional guest services and interpretive trainings at no expense to the volunteer)

  • If interested photographers may lead photo safaris/workshops on the grounds for the public, sharing their photography skills and special knowledge of the park systems. (This optional and will require additional guest services and interpretive trainings)
  • May provide Interpretive programs if desired, qualified, and have met the necessary training and auditing requirements as detailed by the Supervisor.

Note: All works are credited to the photographer. All images taken during course of work will be property of U.S. Federal Government.


Minimum Commitment

There is a minimum one day a week commitment. Assignments both seasonally and weekly may be determined by VIP Management and VIP Supervisor. Work takes place year-round. Openings are limite
