The Ted Rhodes Foundation (TRF) is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in golf, preserving the legacy of Ted Rhodes, a pioneering African-American golfer. Ted is the 1st African American professional golfer in the modern era to play in the US Open (1948) and he is one of the pioneers that Tiger Woods credits as paving the way for him to play golf. There is a golf course that bears his name in Nashville, TN.

Under our Future Golfers of America "Growing the Champions of Tomorrow" program, TRF empowers underrepresented youth across the country through educational programs, golf clinics and golf tournaments, mentoring, and golf scholarship opportunities. Our annual fundraising initiatives play a crucial role in driving these efforts, and we are seeking passionate individuals to join our fundraising committee.

Position Overview:

We are looking for committed and creative volunteers to help with the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising activities for the Foundation. The fundraising committee will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our events and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with committee members to brainstorm and develop new fundraising strategies.
  • Assist in organizing fundraising events such as charity golf tournaments, silent auctions, and galas.
  • Help with grant writing, corporate sponsorship outreach, and donor engagement.
  • Support the development of promotional materials for fundraising campaigns.
  • Participate in regular committee meetings (virtual).

Qualifications:

  • Passion for community work and youth development.
  • Knowledge of golf is a plus
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience in event planning, fundraising, corporate sponsorships, marketing, or non-profit work is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for our mission.

Our mission is to preserve and honor the legacy of golfing pioneer Theodore "Ted" Rhodes.

Description

Ted Rhodes’ vision was to make the game of golf open to all races. The Foundation is honoring his vision by creating pipelines of African Americans to work in the golf industry as golfers or professionals working in the golf industry by hosting educational events, golf clinics, and golf tournaments for youth and adults. Our youth program is Future Golfers of America " Growing the Champions of Tomorrow’. We provide financial support to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) golf programs and golf team members to help further this mission. We also partner with local urban youth golf programs. Opening doors to the world of golf.
