Volunteers are vital to our patient and family care. At Heartland Hospice our Companionship Volunteers visit patients in their homes or in facilities anywhere from once a monh to once a week. Volunteers provide companionship to the patient and caregivers. They listen to patient's stories and provide a listening ear. They read books, look at pictures, play cards and provide compassion to our patients. When a family member needs a break or needs to run errands, our volunteers step in to help out. Volunteers are here to meet non-medical needs for our patients and their families. No medical experience needed as volunteers DO NOT perform nursing duties or dispense medications.
Our patients love our volunteers and the time you give is invaluable to a patient and their family during a very difficult season in their lives. No matter your skills, talents and motivation, we have the opportunity for you to be the light in the darkness.
