While the impact from Hurricane Helene is still unfolding, it's clear that we've got thousands of people across 140,000 square miles facing near-term displacement. Unfortunately, most forecast models show another landfalling hurricane in the Gulf Coast next weekend with additional tropical waves behind it, and the western wildfire threat is forecast to persist at least through December. With these planning assumptions, the National Command and General Staff forecasts a deficit of 400-500 qualified shelter leaders.
We need volunteers who can deploy for 2 weeks within the next 6 weeks. (9/30/24) This entails the ability to complete online trainings within the next two weeks to be eligible to deploy.
Red Cross will book your flights and provide accomodation and food during deployments.
