The Foster Co-leads are volunteers that screen foster applicants to become certified as fosters with Rabbit Advocates. They have a long screening process to make sure that the fosters are prepared to help take care of a rabbit. The Foster Team is the support team for the fosters and will help with any questions that fosters may have. The Foster Team coordinates moving rescued rabbits to fosters. The Foster Team works closely with the Medical Team, Rescue Team, and Helpline & Info Teams. The Foster Team enters all rabbits into our system and keeps track of them until they are adopted. Any rabbit rehome requests come through the Foster Team.

This position starts January 2025; training will start Fall 2024.

PO Box 14235, Portland, OR 97293, US

Mission Statement

Our purpose is to promote the welfare of domestic rabbits.

Description

Rabbit Advocates is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose volunteers specialize in educating the public about the care of domestic rabbits.

We aim to place surrendered or abandoned rabbits in loving homes where they will be welcomed as family members.

Formerly a part of the Oregon Humane Society, in 2002 we created a group solely devoted to promoting the welfare of domestic rabbits.

The Rabbit Advocates operate an education and adoption website as well as a help line. We hold rabbit adoption outreach events and other activities at locations around the Portland Metro Area and hold monthly meetings at Humane Society for Southwest Washington, located at 1100 NE 192nd Ave., Vancouver, WA.
