We are looking for two or three young ladies (New York/New Jersey High School Freshmen and Sophomores only) to become part of Nu Sigma Theta's 2024-2025 Pledge Class.

This season, the youth division of the Sorority is rebranding itself and so this season's pledge class, along with it's current membership (four girls) will help develop new traditions that will remain with the sorority "forever". You'll also learn about historic service organizations such as the Divine 9, and participate in college and career prep activities as well as community service projects. We will verify hours for those who can use this to fulfill community service requirements at their schools.

This is a great opportunity to connect with other young ladies who are interested in social and professional networking as well as community service.

The Sorority meets on Fridays at 7pm (on Zoom). In person activities won't happen until the Spring; however, members of the Sorority can attend any SoulPhamm event that happens - even if it has nothing to do with the Sorority. Trips can happen anywhere in NY or NJ - but practice for our "Crossover" will happen in Downtown Newark.

The Sorority will also engage in fundraising for the organization and any money that you raise will be used to purchase Sorority gear later in the spring.

Interested candidates should submit a short letter telling us about themselves and why they would like to join the Sorority. Please tell us about your interests and talents. We will reach out to set up a Zoom meeting so that we can answer any questions you have before you join the rest of the group.

No phone calls please.

About SoulPhamm Inc

Location:

613 Washington Boulevard, Suite 1129, Jersey City, NJ 07310, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people by providing unique artistic and athletic experiences and performances, and to assist them in achieving the highest standards of professionalism through the development of discipline, skill, confidence, cooperation, leadership, responsibility and character.

Description

Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.

SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
