Description

Role and Responsibilities: Deputy Director, under the direction of the Director, is responsible for the supervision of the in-person program. The Deputy Director will serve as an appropriate role model for the children and other staff at the site.

  • Will support the Director as he/she operates the programs, following MAP's standards, policies, procedures and professional expectations.
  • Will actively engage in activities with mentors and students including physical activity, sociology-emotional learning, academic support, and mentorship
  • Will supervise different sites
  • Will help maintain and inventory supplies needed for the program.
  • Under the direction of the Director, will report any staff or child accident/incidents or suspected child abuse injury to the Director as soon as possible. Will fill out appropriate reports, make necessary phone calls, and follow all emergency procedures.
  • Will attend all scheduled staff meetings, trainings, and any other meetings deemed necessary by the Director or leadership team.
  • Will assist with drills to practice site-evacuation/emergency procedures and can implement such procedures.
  • Will report directly to Director regarding all matters concerning the job responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age: 18 years of age; Education: High School Degree or higher
  • Must be compliant with NYS SCR fingerprint and security clearances
  • Desire and ability to work with children and peers
  • Ability to lead and supervise mentors
  • Possess the ability to lead students especially leading enrichment and recreational activities
  • Basic appreciation and understanding of group management and child development
  • Ability to accept supervision and guidance
  • Ability to follow and execute schedules and activity plans
  • Possess imagination, a sense of humor, patience, conviction, sincerity, enthusiasm, initiative, self-control, adaptability, willingness to learn, integrity, and ingenuity
  • Must be able to execute all programs represented in the daily schedule

Mentor A Promise, Inc. has partnered with different family shelters to provide educational and vocational resources to students that reside in these shelters. We have successfully connected students with online tutoring to help them improve their educational experience. We are working with different tech organizations to bring these services to the students that have expressed interest. Our goal is to work with every student while in shelter to show them that they are not alone and help guide them through this experience into a bright future.
