- Develop marketing and advertising materials in coordination with RT4’s Program and Communications Director to grow our advocacy efforts and attract new donors
- Assist with graphic design and branding work as needed and able
- Outreach to journalists and press contacts to grow RT4’s media presence and maximize impact of earned media coverage
- Explore potential paid media opportunities with businesses and partners that share RT4’s goals
- Assist in the creation of RT4’s press and media calendar
- Brainstorm relevant and innovative content ideas for social media posts, op-eds, campaigns, etc.

If you have any previous experience working in marketing, social media management, non-profit communications, privacy, or advocacy that’s a major plus!
About Restore the Fourth
Started in 2013, Restore the Fourth stands against mass government surveillance. We seek to strengthen the Fourth Amendment and fight back against all programs that encroach on it through educating the public, lobbying elected officials, and supporting grassroots organizers across the country. RT4 was created in the wake of the Snowden Revelations. So much has changed in the surveillance landscape since then. To keep up to date, consult our issue briefs here. RT4 operates a national chapter as well as state level chapters. We have volunteers across the U.S.
RT4 is a 501(c)(4) social welfare corporation. Our annual reports can be found here.
Requirements and Qualifications
- RT4 is a non-partisan, non-violent organization. We do not endorse candidates for political office. You must be able to work with a diverse group of people who have different perspectives, including political beliefs.
- While we do not require previous professional experience to volunteer for our CommWG, you should have a strong interest in our mission - to strengthen Fourth Amendment civil liberties and end mass government surveillance. You should be willing and eager to learn about the issues we are concerned with and stay informed on what is happening in our advocacy space.
- The CommWG will meet once a month for an hour on Signal, an encrypted messaging and calling platform. We will schedule these meetings as a group at a later date to ensure all volunteers are available to join. CommWG volunteers must have a Signal account. Outside of monthly calls, team communications will take place on Signal via messaging, and occasionally through email.
- RT4 understands that life is busy. We do not require volunteers to commit a minimum number of hours per week or month. We ask that you contribute what you can and are able to. However, by indicating your interest in volunteering with us, we will assume that you have some capacity to take on tasks and projects unless otherwise stated.
- Prior to volunteering with RT4, all applicants will have a brief interview with our National Chair and Program/Comms Director. We will reach out to schedule this call after we receive your application.
Restore the Fourth strives to have a diversity of experiences, opinions, thoughts, personalities, and identities in all we do. We are committed to building a diverse staff of employees and volunteers. We encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply.
