About Mountain Valor Foundation

Mountain Valor Foundation is a startup nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting wounded veterans by providing therapeutic and recreational retreats. Our mission is to create a sanctuary where veterans can engage in camping, fishing, and hunting activities, fostering a sense of community and healing. We are currently developing our infrastructure in both Colorado and Florida to support our growing community of veterans.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead Mountain Valor Foundation. The Executive Director will be responsible for providing strategic direction, overseeing program execution, ensuring financial stability, and representing the organization to various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of veteran affairs and a proven track record in nonprofit leadership.

Disclosure: As MVF is in its growth phase, this position is currently an unpaid volunteer-based position with flexible time requirements. The incumbent who volunteers, is selected, and fills this role, dedicating their time, passion, and loyalty to helping us continue to grow will be offered a secured salaried employment position based upon successful fundraising efforts. Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Vision:

Provide inspirational and strategic leadership to the organization.

Develop and implement long-term goals and strategies to advance the mission of Mountain Valor Foundation.

Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture.

Strategic Planning and Program Execution:

Oversee the strategic planning process and ensure the successful execution of programs.

Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.

Ensure alignment of programs with the foundation’s mission and goals.

Fundraising and Financial Management:

Develop and implement effective fundraising strategies to ensure financial sustainability.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations.

Oversee budget planning, financial reporting, and compliance with financial policies.

Partnership Development:

Establish and maintain partnerships with local, regional, and national organizations.

Engage with community leaders, veteran organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance program outreach and impact.

Represent Mountain Valor Foundation at events, conferences, and in the media.

Board Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with the board of directors to develop and implement organizational policies and strategies.

Provide regular updates and reports to the board on program activities, financial status, and strategic initiatives.

Facilitate board meetings and support board development initiatives.

Qualifications

Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably in a nonprofit organization.

Strong understanding of veteran affairs and the unique challenges faced by wounded veterans.

Demonstrated success in fundraising and financial management.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with a board of directors and other stakeholders.

Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Passion for the mission of Mountain Valor Foundation and a commitment to supporting veterans.

Additional Information

Location: The position can be based anywhere in the U.S. The Executive Director will be expected to oversee operations, attend Virtual and In-Person Meetings, and represent MVF at specific functions and to certain high-profile individuals/corporations, all which may require travel.

Compensation: Unpaid volunteer-based position with the potential to become a secured salaried employment position dependent on successful fundraising efforts.
