Are you passionate about using data and research to drive meaningful change? Machiah’s House is seeking a dedicated and analytical individual to join our team as a Volunteer Research Analyst. In this role, you will help gather, analyze, and present data on the demographics of young women aging out of foster care, highlighting the critical need for donors' support and the importance of monthly giving to sustain our mission. About Machiah’s House: Machiah’s House is a nonprofit organization focused on providing safe transitional housing, life skills training, and access to community resources for young women who have aged out of the foster care system. Our mission is to empower these young women to build independent, successful lives as they transition into adulthood. Volunteer Role: Research AnalystJob Description:Demographic Analysis: Conduct thorough research on the population of young women aging out of the foster care system, both nationally and locally in North Carolina. Examine demographic trends, challenges, and the outcomes faced by these young women, with a focus on education, employment, housing stability, and mental health. Data Collection & Reporting: Collect data from government sources, academic studies, and nonprofit organizations to identify key statistics and trends. Compile this information into detailed reports and presentations to be used for donor outreach, grant applications, and program development. Highlighting Critical Need: Showcase the dire situation faced by many young women after they age out of foster care. Nationally, about 23,000 youth age out of foster care each year, with 20% becoming instantly homeless. In North Carolina alone, around 700-800 youth age out annually, with many struggling to secure stable housing, employment, and access to healthcare. These statistics emphasize the urgent need for a safe and supportive transitional group home, like the one Machiah’s House seeks to provide. Funding and Donor Support: Use research findings to demonstrate the critical need for donors' financial support and the impact monthly giving can have on transforming the lives of these young women. Present compelling evidence to show how monthly donations provide consistent funding for housing, life skills programs, mental health services, and other essential resources. Grant Research & Writing: Assist in researching available grants and funding opportunities that align with Machiah’s House’s mission. Help write and organize data for grant applications to secure additional funding from local, state, and national sources. Community Impact: Present research that highlights the positive long-term impact of providing stable housing and life skills training to aged-out foster youth. Show how investing in their success benefits not just these young women, but the broader community by reducing homelessness, improving economic mobility, and fostering a sense of belonging and purpose. Evaluation & Improvement: Work with program staff to track and evaluate the effectiveness of Machiah’s House programs. Help design surveys, conduct interviews, and analyze program data to assess the outcomes and identify areas for improvement. Communicating Research: Collaborate with the marketing team to create visually appealing infographics, reports, and presentations that communicate the data in a way that’s accessible and compelling for donors, volunteers, and the public. Assist in developing a "Data Snapshot" for our website and social media platforms to inform the public about our mission, the population we serve, and the impact of their donations. Outreach to Donors: Create data-driven narratives that highlight the urgency of supporting young women aging out of foster care.
