Machiah’s House is seeking an experienced and passionate social worker to volunteer and support our mission of empowering young women who have aged out of the foster care system. Help us provide vital services and guidance as they transition into adulthood and build brighter futures. About Machiah’s House: Machiah’s House is a 501c3 organization dedicated to providing safe transitional housing, life skills training, and access to community resources for young women who have aged out of the foster care system. Our goal is to support them as they navigate the challenges of adulthood, offering a stable environment and the tools needed to thrive. Volunteer Role: Social WorkerJob Description:Client Support & Case Management: Provide individualized support to young women transitioning out of foster care. Assess their needs and goals, develop personalized plans, and offer case management services to help them access housing, education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Mentorship & Guidance: Act as a mentor and guide for young women, offering emotional support, encouragement, and practical advice as they work through personal and professional challenges. Help them develop life skills such as budgeting, time management, job search, and emotional well-being. Referral Services: Connect clients to local resources, including counseling services, healthcare providers, job training programs, and educational opportunities. Build relationships with community organizations and service providers to create a comprehensive support network for our participants. Policy & Program Development: Work with our leadership team to develop and refine policies that ensure the safety, well-being, and success of the young women we serve. Help craft programs that align with the specific needs of young women aging out of foster care, including job readiness, housing stability, and mental health support. Home Visits & Assessments: Conduct home visits to assess the living conditions of participants and ensure they are receiving the support they need. Create action plans for those facing challenges and work closely with them to overcome barriers to success. Workshops & Life Skills Training: Develop and facilitate interactive workshops on topics such as financial literacy, career planning, emotional resilience, and healthy relationships. Empower participants with the knowledge and skills needed for independence and self-sufficiency. Diversity & Trauma-Informed Care: Provide culturally competent and trauma-informed care to young women from diverse backgrounds. Understand the unique challenges faced by those aging out of foster care, including experiences of trauma, instability, and loss, and tailor your approach accordingly. Administrative Support: Assist with data collection, report writing, and tracking of participant progress. Ensure all documentation is kept up to date and adheres to program guidelines and best practices. Help analyze data to identify trends and areas for program improvement. Advocacy & Empowerment: Advocate for the rights and needs of young women who have aged out of the foster care system. Educate the community about the challenges they face and inspire others to get involved in supporting their journey to independence. Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with at-risk youth or individuals transitioning out of foster care
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, case management, and resource referral processes
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and committed to empowering young women to succeed
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
  • Culturally competent and able to work with diverse populations
  • Passion for social justice and advocating for vulnerable populations
