Hi there!

Thank you for expressing your interest in volunteering with Visit San Antonio - River Walk Operations. We're excited to have you on board for one of the most vibrant events of the year-the Day of the Dead River Parade on October 25th!

This year’s parade is a ticketed event, and we need enthusiastic volunteers to help ensure everything runs smoothly. Your primary role will be taking tickets at various gates along the River Walk. If we have enough volunteers, some of you will also assist as ushers, guiding attendees to their seats and ensuring they find the correct section and row once they are through the gate and on river level.

In addition to the event day duties, we’re also seeking volunteers to help with the crucial behind-the-scenes work. On the Wednesday and Thursday before the event, we need dedicated individuals to assist with counting chairs and labeling every 1st, 5th, and last chair in each row. This preparation will make a huge difference in providing attendees with a seamless experience.

Throughout the event, you’ll have the support of zone captains and area coordinators, who will be patrolling the sections and assisting ticket takers and attendees with any needs that arise. There’s a lot that goes into making this event a success, and we’d love for you to be a part of it!

Mandatory Volunteer Training
To ensure everyone is prepared, there will be mandatory volunteer training sessions offered on the following dates:

- Wednesday, October 9 at 6:00 PM
- Saturday, October 12 at 10:00 AM
- Wednesday, October 16 at 6:00 PM
- Saturday, October 19 at 10:00 AM

I will send out links to join these Microsoft Teams meetings soon.

Parade Day Shift
4:00 PM - 9:30 PM (end times may vary)

Parade Day Itinerary
A detailed itinerary will be sent closer to the parade date, but here’s a general overview:

- 4:00 PM: Volunteers Arrive at Weston Centre
- 5:30 PM: EVERYONE IN PLACE/RIVER WALK CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC
- 6:00 PM: Gates Open/Start Taking Tickets/Ushers to Start Seating

Please note that depending on the amount of folks we have joining us for event day, some volunteer assignments may shift to best accomodate the event with the help we have!

Invite a Friend or Coworker!
We’d love for you to invite a friend, coworker, loved one, or anyone you know to join in this volunteer opportunity. We love working with groups and building relationships, so the more hands on deck, the better the experience for everyone involved!

Parking
We are pleased to provide parking for volunteers at the Weston Centre for both day-of and preparation shifts.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me, Makayla Robles, at makayla.robles@visitsanantonio.com or (210) 244-2006.
