Our annual Casa de los Pobres collection benefits the children of Tijuana for their Christmas celebration. We take the candy donated, sort it, and package it into freezer, quart-size Ziploc bags for the religious sisters at Casa de los Pobres to pick up and transport over the border. We usually get tons of candy donations, so we need help sorting them and packaging them into small Ziploc bags. This year, we are collecting candy from 40+ area parishes and Catholic schools.
To give our volunteers plenty of room to work we set up tables outside in the backyard around the pool. Our candy sorting & packing "party" will be held on Sunday, December 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You can sign up for a two-hour slot. We encourage individuals and large groups (scouts, sororities, youth groups...etc.) to come volunteer. All ages are welcome. All community groups are welcome. Need community service hours for school? Caroline Kelner will be available to sign forms for you. Please invite family & friends!
