Mission Statement
The Center for Science Teaching and Learning or CSTL, is situated within Tanglewood Preserve--a nature preserve in Rockville Centre, NY. Our mission is simple: to encourage science learning and literacy in everyone, children as well as adults. CSTL is a 501(C3) nonprofit organization that is operated by a passionate, intelligent, and highly qualified staff that includes scientists, certified teachers, former school administrators, and skilled artists and craftsman. These professionals are dedicated to incorporating each of the three basic core sciences--biology, chemistry, and physics--into an experience in a way that engages people, making learning a real adventure.
Description
CSTL is located on a 17 acre preserve (Nassau County). This provides the perfect place for CSTL to furnish children, families and schools a place to learn about science. We have educational programs from toddlers to 12 year. We have field trips of students that come to us from different schools and organizations. We do outreach programs to different schools and organizations that are not able to travel to us. We bring exhibits to the public through outreach and here on the preseve. We also provide programs for teachers to further their education and to help them to help their students. We are supporting the environment through classes and programs regarding endangered species and the Native American plants that are found in this part of Long Island
