The Food Bank Network of Somerset County seeks dedicated volunteers with valid driver's licenses and clean driving records to assist in collecting donations. Each day, the Food Bank Network of Somerset County picks up donations from nearby retail partners. We rely on our volunteer time and efforts to collect these donations. We do not require volunteers to commit to a schedule, however, we have found it's mutually beneficial when volunteers are able to come in more than one day and for more than an hour.
A valid NJ driver license is required, no other special licenses. Applicants will need to attend an Orientation before the first volunteering shift.
Driving to pick up donations begins around 8:30 in the morning, depending on the day and the pickup time dictated by the stores.
We need people who can lift 20-25lbs, who can take direction and are self-starters. Drivers and Driver Assistants will load and unload retail partner donations. Volunteers may also be asked to sort donations, sort and clean produce, stock pantries, break down boxes, take out trash or other various warehouse related tasks.
If you're interested in volunteering, please fill out the volunteer application on our website at this link: Volunteer Application

Mission Statement
The mission of The Food Bank Network is to distribute food and provide other basic human needs to those less fortunate in our community in a manner recognizing and advancing self-worth and human dignity. Working through our warehouse-pantry in Bridgewater and satellite food pantries, our goal is to help feed and provision people in need until they become self-sufficient. We aid any Somerset County residents requesting help who either find us directly or are referred by public and private county agencies. To do this, we have professional staff members, an unpaid board of directors, and countless volunteers across the county who give their time and donations to help us continue our work. The Food Bank Network is a non-governmental, non-sectarian, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public benefit organization.
Description
The Food Bank Network has been helping out people in Somerset County, New Jersey since 1982. We give food and other important things to people who need them, and we do it in a way that shows we care about their self-respect and dignity.
We have our main pantry in Bridgewater, and we also have some smaller pantries around the county. In 2022, we had over 22,000 client visits! We don't just give out food though - we also have a program where we give backpacks and school supplies to kids, and we help families have a great holiday meal with our Adopt-a-Family Program.
We aid any Somerset County residents by utilizing a few professional staff members, an unpaid board of directors, and countless volunteers across the county who generously give their time and money. We do not receive governmental financial support.
