Make a difference when it really matters!

We, Interim Hospice, are looking for people who do community service from the heart for this much needed care. Our patient facing volunteers spend time with people with terminal conditions offering emotional support and companionship.

What is hospice? Simply put hospice is a human side of health care focusing on quality of life. We care not only for the patient but also the entire family through this time of goodbyes and hard transitions.

How this works! Once you are a volunteer for us you will get training and work under the volunteer coordinator or a Registered Nurse. You will always have someone to turn to if questions or issues arise. Once that is done you get sent to help a family local to you. Your schedule is yours to control, just let us know what times work for you. The goal is to give people support! Here are some tasks you could do, but remember we want to work with your individual skills.

• Companionship by watching movies or playing cards or dominos with them.
• Reading together, taking walks, and assisting with writing letters or using the computer.
• Helping them make a simple meal or doing some needed tidying.
• Sitting with patients and holding their hand so their family knows someone is with them and can rest.
• Calling them on the phone to check in and make sure they have everything they need.

Who are we? Our mission at Interim HealthCare Hospice is to treat every patient family we serve with the same care and respect we would naturally afford our most precious loved ones, at a time when being our best is non-negotiable. We strive to be that hospice known in our communities for creating a space that allows the patient and family to find peace of mind, body, and spirit. As a volunteer you would be a helping people in your local community during this challenging time by your companionship, support, and assistance. This sort of community service means the world to the patients and their families who receive it. Help us make a difference.
