Mission Statement
Provide temporary shelter and equip residents for employability to resolve poverty and obtain and sustain housing.
Description
The Brisben Center has 35 years of experience with serving the homeless adults and children of the counties of Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, Caroline and the City of Fredericksburg.
We do so in a 16,000 sf clean, modern. safe, congregate facility in which up to 80 adults and children find respite and a place to transform surviving to thriving.
We have separate dormitories for single males and for single females. Families with children reside in single occupancy family rooms with full bathrooms.
Our theory of change, based on decades of experience and extensive research, is simple. If a person is capable, motivated, and accountable to their results-based plan, and if they engage with effective, targeted resources, they will advance their health & sobriety, social relationships, livable wage
employment, financial literacy, community engagement, and good parenting skills.
Our signature approach is Mobility Mentoring(r) coaching. Our Mobility Mentoring(r) coaching program is designed to provide individuals with the tools, skills, and guidance needed to break the cycle of poverty and achieve lasting financial stability. Volunteer Mentor/coaches work with program participants for at least 12 months after exiting the center.
