Time Commitment: Flexible; approximately 5-10 hours per week
About Us:
Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors is a nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating hunger and fostering community well-being. We provide essential food assistance and resources to individuals and families in need, promoting a healthier and more connected community.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Volunteer Grant Writer to join our team. This role is vital in helping us secure funding to expand our programs and services. The ideal candidate will have experience in grant writing, strong research skills, and a keen eye for detail. As a grant writer, you will work closely with our team to identify funding opportunities, craft compelling proposals, and ensure that all submissions align with the mission and goals of Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
- Write and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports.
- Collaborate with the program and development teams to gather necessary information for proposals.
- Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and reporting requirements.
- Track and document grant outcomes and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in grant writing or nonprofit fundraising is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Passion for our mission and a desire to make a meaningful impact in the community.

Mission Statement
With a faithful heart, we help neighbors in Collin, East Denton and Grayson counties in North Texas fight food insecurity, increase self-sufficiency and promote the value of nutrition. We live in one of the highest food insecurity areas (11%) in the state. We serve over 4,000 individuals monthly. That demand is up 54% versus 2023.
Description
Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors has been around since the 1980s. Not only are we trying to eliminate food insecurity in the community, we work with our other community non-profit organizations to help reduce generational poverty. Currently, we distribute food three days a week. We also have partnerships to address financial education, health insurance, eyecare and more.
