Position Overview:
Shroomate is seeking a talented WordPress Website Designer to help maintain and enhance our website, which serves as a key communication platform for our initiatives. As a volunteer, you will be responsible for updating and improving the site’s functionality, ensuring an engaging user experience, and making sure that Shroomate’s mission and values are effectively communicated to our audience. This is an excellent opportunity to use your design and technical skills to contribute to a growing nonprofit organization focused on sustainability and education. One of our founders is a WordPress website designer but is not able to put time into
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Shroomate’s WordPress website, ensuring it is up-to-date and visually engaging
- Improve site navigation, layout, and functionality to enhance the user experience
- Collaborate with the communications and content teams to ensure timely updates for blog posts, events, and news
- Implement SEO best practices to optimize search engine visibility
- Ensure website security, performance, and mobile responsiveness
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to the website
- Work with internal teams to integrate new features and functionalities as needed (e.g., donation portals, event registration)
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in website design and development (nonprofit experience is a plus)
- Strong proficiency in WordPress
- Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles
- Familiarity with SEO practices and website analytics tools (helpful but not required)
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating user-friendly, visually appealing websites
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Interest in sustainability, environmental causes, or nonprofit work is highly desirable
