Mission Statement

For Leebo's Sickle Cell Support Group: Our mission is to provide support, resources, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by sickle cell anemia, fostering awareness and promoting education to improve the quality of life within our community.

Description

  • Leebo's Sickle Cell Support Group was founded in honor of my son, who passed away from sickle cell anemia. Our mission is to support, educate, and advocate for individuals and families affected by this disease. Over the years, we have grown into a vital resource in our community, providing much-needed assistance to those battling sickle cell. We’ve successfully organized fundraising events, such as our holiday gift card giveaway at Broward General Hospital and our Thanksgiving outreach program, bringing comfort and joy to patients during the holiday season.

Our goals are to raise awareness about sickle cell anemia, educate the public, and offer direct support to those in need. We focus on building a strong, informed community by running programs that include educational workshops, patient support groups, and advocacy initiatives.

This September, during Sickle Cell Awareness Month, we are proud to host a contest in local schools, encouraging children to express what sickle cell means to them through art. This initiative is just one example of how we engage with our community to create a more inclusive and understanding environment for those living with sickle cell. Our ongoing efforts aim to improve the lives of patients and their families, ensuring they never feel alone in their journey.
