National Association of Asian American Professions, New York Chapter (NAAAP NY) is a 501(3)(c) non-profit run by volunteers.


Join this fantastic group of leaders and take on the leadership role for our Marketing & Communications team!

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated volunteer to drive our mission forward.

As a Director / Co-Director of Marketing & Communications, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and executing our marketing strategies, managing our media channels, and leading a passionate team of volunteers. The ideal candidate will possess an ownership mindset, a strategic vision, and the ability to leverage marketing to enhance our organization’s growth and engagement.

About NAAAP NY

We, NAAAP NY, is a pan-asian, pan-industry nonprofit that serves the Greater New York community by providing professional development experiences and professional networking opportunities to build API professional leaders.

We believe that by providing a safe community for API professionals to engage and connect, we help them find inspiration within each other and develop into leaders that drive positive change to build a more inclusive tomorrow.

Responsibilities:

Team management (20%):

  • Lead and motivate a team of marketing and communications volunteers (social media managers, graphic designers, website admins, general volunteer base), providing guidance, support, and professional development
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure the team works cohesively towards common goals
  • Roll your sleeves up and improvise to hit emergency deadlines when called upon

Marketing assets creation (15%):

  • Oversee the creation of compelling marketing materials, including digital assets, and promotional content
  • Ensure all marketing assets are aligned with the organization’s branding and messaging guidelines

Media channel management (15%):

  • Manage and optimize all media channels, primarily including email campaigns, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Develop and execute engaging content strategies for each platform to maximize reach and impact
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to refine strategies and improve results

Strategic Planning & Collaboration (40%):

  • Collaborate with event planning committees to develop and implement effective promotional strategies for events and initiatives
  • Create and manage content calendars to ensure timely and impactful promotion
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategies aligned with the organization’s goals and mission
  • Identify opportunities for marketing campaigns that drive engagement and support organizational objectives
  • Strengthen NAAAP NY’s branding by initiating strategic outreach to partner organizations and representing the organization during community events

Leadership Meetings & Volunteer Engagement (10%):

  • Participate in bi-weekly leadership meetings to discuss and strategize chapter activities
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to actively support Marketing & Communications and the rest of the organization

Qualifications:

  • Passion for and alignment with NAAAP NY’s mission and values.
  • PROACTIVE, DETAIL-ORIENTED, SELF STARTER
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team of volunteers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in managing social media platforms, graphic design tools and email marketing tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative marketing solutions.
  • Adept at working in a diverse and multicultural environment.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or management role is a plus.

Time Commitment:

  • Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 12 months, leading the marketing efforts for NAAAP NY events (on average, ~1 event a month)
