Mission Statement
The House of Afros, Capes & Curls connects people from diverse backgrounds and builds community based on a shared love of science fiction, fantasy, gaming, and Afrofuturism while providing a safe space to explore the artistic, literary, and historic merits of geek culture.
Description
We build community through Community Engagement, Education and our Signature Events. We host frequent game nights throughout the year to engage the community and we partner with community organizations on programs. The House Community School, are History and culture classes for adults who want to learn more, and the Young History Detectives is our youth program that fosters a love of learning, critical thinking and research skills. Our signature events are community wide engagements that build community, celebrate culture and support local artists.
