JOIN United Way of Tarrant County at the Tarrant Area Food Bank!
Help us support the Tarrant Area Food Bank in their efforts to provide access to healthy food to people across our 13-county region of North Central Texas. Founded in 1982, TAFB is now the primary source of donated food for hunger-relief charities and feeding programs, serving 1-million meals each week.
Our day of service will take place on:
Friday, October 11 from 1pm to 4pm
Tarrant Area Food Bank Distribution Center
2600 Cullen St., Fort Worth, TX 76107
Volunteer duties:
Volunteers will work in the TAFB Quality Control area to sort, inspect, and repackage donated products for distribution. Depending on agency needs, volunteers may also be asked to help with pallet wrapping, moving cardboard boxes to the compactor, sweep/mop area, and operate a pallet jack.
This is a climate-controlled indoor activity, so volunteers are encouraged to dress comfortably, and wear closed toe shoes such as sneakers.
The TAFB relies on committed volunteers to help process hundreds of pounds of product during every shift and needs a strong commitment from volunteer teams.
Children are welcome to participate with the following TAFB guidelines:
Children ages 12-13 - Require one adult chaperone for every 1-3 children volunteering.
Children ages 14-15 - Require one adult chaperone for every 1-10 youth volunteering.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing with closed-toe shoes.
