ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Visitor Services/Interpretive Volunteers at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site help support operations and public programming at all of the park’s visitor contact stations including the reconstructed Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) fort, Pearson Air Museum, and the park Visitor Center in Vancouver, WA, and the Dr. John McLoughlin House unit in Oregon City, OR. Interpretive volunteers--whether uniformed or costumed--are the public face of the park, helping not only to greet and orient visitors, but also to engage with them and present captivating history programming and cultural demonstrations. Volunteers serving under this position description also assist with the planning and implementation of special events, such as "Christmas at the Fort" and "Campfires and Candlelight," as well as other special programming like the Dame and Engagé School.

Interpretive volunteers help bring the park to life! These frontline interpreters provide a positive, welcoming first impression of Fort Vancouver through excellent customer service and engaging presentations of information about the park and its history. Ensuring that visitors have learning opportunities and a positive overall experience will help to support the broader missions of the National Park Service and Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.
