Are you passionate about fitness and community? Join us as a volunteer for our Walking Club, where you’ll help our clients enjoy the great outdoors while promoting health and connection!
Open Shifts:
Saturdays 1-3pm
Location:
On and near campus, 770 Centre Street, Newton, MA
What you'll do:
- Partnered with a second volunteer, lead and accompany clients on enjoyable walks through on and off campus in the Newton area.
- Motivate participants, promote the importance of living an active lifestyle, and create a supportive atmosphere.
- Foster connections by engaging in friendly conversations during walks.

Volunteer Process:
Meet with the Volunteer Coordinator on a video call. If the role is a good fit...
Complete volunteer onboarding: background check, Volunteer Manual, virtual training (blindness education, policies etc.)
Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to confirm a start date.
On your first day, complete in-person orientation with your supervisor.

Description
Established in 1936, The Carroll Center has pioneered many innovative services for the blind and visually impaired. We have developed many methods for people with low vision to learn the skills to be independent in their homes, in class settings, and in their work places. Our services for the blind include vision rehabilitation services, vocational and transition programs, assistive technology training, educational support and recreation opportunities for individuals who are visually impaired of all ages. For over 70 years, The Carroll Center staff has provided help for the blind for thousands of blind and vision impaired persons with diverse opportunities for success and independent living.
