Our mission is to create sanctuaries in Colorado and Florida where veterans can engage in camping, fishing, and hunting activities, fostering a supportive community and aiding in their healing process.

Job Summary

Mountain Valor Foundation is seeking a passionate and experienced Program Director to lead and manage our retreat programs. The Program Director will be responsible for developing and overseeing all aspects of our retreat programs, ensuring that they are impactful, well-coordinated, and within budget. This role is crucial for delivering meaningful experiences to our veterans and integrating therapeutic elements into outdoor activities.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development and Oversight:

Develop, plan, and oversee all retreat programs, including camping, fishing, and hunting activities.

Ensure programs are designed to meet the needs and preferences of veterans.

Continuously evaluate and improve program offerings based on participant feedback and emerging best practices.

Logistics Coordination:

Coordinate all logistics for retreats, including transportation, accommodations, meals, and equipment.

Ensure all logistical arrangements are seamless and contribute to a positive participant experience.

Manage relationships with vendors and service providers to secure necessary resources and services.

Therapeutic Integration:

Collaborate with mental health professionals to integrate therapeutic elements into retreat programs.

Ensure that programs support the mental and emotional well-being of participants.

Monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and make adjustments as needed.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring that all programs are delivered within budget.

Monitor expenses and financial performance, providing regular reports to the Executive Director.

Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support program growth and sustainability.

Staff and Volunteer Management:

Recruit, train, and manage program staff and volunteers.

Provide leadership and support to ensure a high-quality program delivery.

Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.

Qualifications

Proven experience in program management, particularly in outdoor recreational activities.

Strong organizational and logistical skills.

Understanding of the therapeutic benefits of nature for mental health.

Ability to work with veterans and understand their unique needs.

Excellent leadership and team management skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Proficiency in using program management software and tools.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Recreation Management, Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline.

Additional Information

Location: The position is based in Colorado, with responsibilities that may require occasional travel between sites.

Compensation: This is currently an unpaid Volunteer position, with flexible time requirements. However, will become a secured salaried position with successful fundraising efforts.
