We are looking for a compassionate and hands-on volunteer to join our animal rescue center in Mexico. With 42 animals in our care (including 16 dogs, 9 cats, and 2 birds), we need help with daily tasks to ensure their well-being. This position is perfect for someone who loves animals, enjoys working independently, and can help us with a variety of activities. Key Responsibilities: * Animal care: Help with feeding, cleaning, walking the dogs, and assisting with bathing or grooming when needed. * Cleaning & hygiene: Regular cleaning of animal living areas, including kennels, litter boxes, and outdoor spaces. * Maintenance & repairs: Assist with small repairs and upkeep tasks around the property, ensuring the safety and comfort of the animals. * Animal welfare checks: Keep an eye on the animals’ health and well-being, ensuring they are comfortable and safe. * Miscellaneous tasks: Other activities such as shielding dogs from the sun, organizing supplies, or making sure everything is in order around the property. Work Schedule: * Flexible shifts: We are open to discussing the schedule that works best for you. Typically, we need the most help in the mornings and evenings, but any assistance is welcome. * We suggest 4 days a week with a few hours per day, but we’re flexible based on your preferences. * We work 24/7, so if you need rest days or to rearrange shifts, that’s no problem-whatever works best for you. * Some tasks are daily, but we can adjust the workload to ensure you have downtime and are comfortable with the pace. What we provide: * Accommodation: Free stay in a motorhome, with access to our house facilities, including the kitchen. * Language practice: We speak English, Spanish, and French. You’ll have the opportunity to practice or learn any of these languages during your stay. We communicate mainly in English, but my partner speaks Spanish as he’s from Chile, and I’m from France. * Hands-on experience: You’ll have the chance to work directly with animals and contribute to their well-being in a meaningful way. We understand the value of flexibility, so if you’re passionate about animal care and can spare a few hours a week, we’d love to hear from you!

Mission Statement

At Rancho Peludo, our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide a safe haven for vulnerable animals. We believe in compassion, animal welfare, and the inherent right of all species to live free from suffering. Through rescue and education, we aim to correct the imbalance caused by human neglect, giving animals the second chance they deserve. Our ultimate goal is to create a future where animals are treated with the respect, care, and love they deserve, as they rely on us to protect the lives we’ve impacted.

Description

Rancho Peludo began with a single rescue. In 2022, during a road trip from Canada to Chile, we found ourselves caring for an abandoned dog on the streets of Mexico. What started as a spontaneous act of compassion quickly turned into a lifelong commitment to rescuing animals in need. As we encountered more starving, injured, and abandoned animals, we couldn’t turn away, and soon we became a full-fledged rescue center.

Located in Mexico, a country facing one of the highest rates of stray animals, Rancho Peludo has now rescued close to 80 animals, including dogs, cats, birds, and even some wild animals. Our goal is not just to save lives but to provide lasting care and rehabilitation, with the hope of finding forever homes for these animals. For those who cannot be adopted, we aim to create sanctuary spaces where they can live in comfort and safety.

Our future plans include building improved facilities, such as an expansive cat sanctuary and dedicated play spaces for our dogs. We dream of creating a nurturing environment where animals can thrive, recover, and live happily while we continue to educate the public about the importance of animal welfare.

Every animal we rescue brings us closer to our vision of a world where no animal suffers needlessly, and we are determined to grow our efforts and save as many lives as possible.
