A Compassus volunteer has several areas they can choose to contribute. One to one bedside companion visits where they visit with the patient helping them with activities of interest, socializing, reading a book or watching a movie. They can join the special events team where they assist our patients to attend activities that Compassus sponsors in our facilities such as holiday celebrations, Bingo Buddies and arts and crafts. There is also a need for administrative support assisting the Volunteer Coordinator. We always have a need for pet therapy dogs and their handlers. Our goal is to provide a variety of ways to support our patients and their families and give the volunteer the opportunity to choose what intrests them and are comfortable with.

The hospice team focuses greatly on spiritual and emotional health as well. The foundations of hospice include nursing care with an emphasis on managing symptoms, practical assistance and emotional support. Caring for a loved one at home can be challenging. Our goal is to provide timely services to help your family make the most of your time together.

  • We require a six-month commitment participating in two activities a month.
  • Compassus requires volunteers to participate in a background check and take a TB test. Compassus will pay for both.
