We at Papayago Rescue House know that we can’t do it all. We must continue to push Papayago Rescue House into the community to reach new adopters, volunteers, and parrot caregivers in need of support.
One or more of the things you may be asked to do:
Event Planning & Coordination
Assist the Director of Events in creating a detailed plan for the garage sale, including a timeline, task assignments, and budget.
Coordinate with other volunteers, vendors, and sponsors to ensure all aspects of the event are covered.
- Mainly online work effort but will include onsite support on ramp-up in Marietta, GA.
Marketing & Promotion
Collaborate with the marketing team to identify marketing needs for the event, such as the number of banners, ads, and promotional materials required.
Assist in the implementation of marketing strategies developed by the marketing team.
Logistics Management
Help identify and secure the venue for the garage sale.
Organize transportation of items to the venue and oversee the setup and teardown processes.
Support with management of the inventory of items to be sold, ensuring they are priced, categorized, and displayed appropriately.
Volunteer Coordination
Work with the Director of Events to identify the number of volunteers needed for events’ roles and the specific skills required for each role.
- Help the Director of Events to schedule volunteer shifts and oversee their activities during the event.
Fundraising & Donor Engagement
Assist the Events Committee in identifying potential donors and sponsors for the event.
Maintain communication with existing donors, providing updates and acknowledging their contributions.
Data Management & Reporting
Keep detailed records of event-related expenses, donations, and sales.
Help in post-event evaluation by gathering feedback and generating reports on the success of the fundraising efforts.
Customer Service
Provide excellent customer service to event attendees
Ensure a welcoming and engaging environment for all participants.
Position requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Sign a release and NDA form
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Event Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
Should be flexible, with a good attitude.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
Previous experience in event planning and with event management software is a plus.
Time Commitment
Duration: Minimum of 3 months, with the possibility of extension.
Hours: Flexible schedule, with an expected commitment of 5-7 hours per week, including availability on weekends and ramping up to 10 - 15 hours per week leading up to the event on April 2025.

Mission Statement
Papayago Rescue House, Inc. will exist to support the well-being and maintenance of exotic birds, namely parrots, and their people families that require intervention and/or support services to thrive. Papayago Rescue House, Inc. will act in a not-for-profit manner to target parrots for rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing. To better serve the 3rd largest pet community in the world, we will work with bird owners to increase their knowledge, provide mentoring and training to coping with parrot ownership to lessen the need for parrot owners to give up their birds. The community will be better supported to maintain the birds in their care to reduce how often birds are re-homed or placed in community facilities not equipped to handle bird requirements and behavior.
