Description
LEAP for Education is celebrating its 20th anniversary of service to local students. LEAP has a variety of volunteer opportunities, ranging from one-time service to longer-term commitments. We believe that all supporters are vital to the organization’s mission, and engagement helps students find success and build a stronger community. In FY2021, 133 volunteers contributed more than 2,000 hours of support, the vast majority of which was student-facing -- that is, serving as career mentors, college prep success advisors, middle school enrichment facilitators, or staffing myriad career services events. LEAP's ~600 students are from Lynn, Salem and Peabody, MA, in grades 6-16; they are economically disadvantaged ( 88%), first-generation-to- college (83%), students of color (75%), and/or English learners or former English learners (32%). LEAP's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Advocacy (DEIA) work is one of three top strategic priorities for the organization. All of LEAP's programs are offered free of charge to its students.
